IESA – Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración has officially received accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities on post-graduate business education, demonstrating its continuing commitment to excellence in management education.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Carlos Jaramillo as Academic Dean of IESA. Carlos Jaramillo in this new responsibility will provide the leadership necessary for the Institute to maintain its high quality standards and achieve its goals.
Programs from four continents expand the NASPAA network of accredited programs.
The Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración held the tenth place in the ranking of the AméricaEconomía magazine, which determines the best schools of management in Latin America, in relation to their Master’s programs in Business Administration (MBA). In this occasion, IESA stood out in three sub indices by specialties.
IESA was established in 1965 in the oil-producing nation of Venezuela. The school’s founders created the private, nonprofit institution to establish a source of business talent that would facilitate the country’s development as it profited from the oil industry. As oil prices rose, both the private and public sectors of Venezuela expanded, and the school’s growth followed the growth of the economy.
The MBA Association (AMBA) recognized with the “MBA Innovation Award” accredited business schools that stood out for their innovative practices and creativity in their masters of business administration programs. The award ceremony was held at the Awards & Gala Dinner held in London on Friday the 29th this past January.

Nunzia Auletta and Maria Helena Jaén were awarded for their teaching case titled "Innovar en la EGA: Cómo ganarle al fantasma de la ejecución" The recognition was given as part of the XLIX Annual Meeting of the Consejo Latinoamericano de Escuelas de Administración – CLADEA (Latin American Council of Management Schools) at Barcelona, Spain, in September 2014.
On 22th August 2014, a seminar on oil policy proposals titled “Oil Policy and Fuel Subsidies” was held at IESA´s Völlmer Auditorium. The lecturers were Francisco Monaldi, Director of the International Energy and Environment Center (IESA) and Visiting Professor at Harvard University, and researcher José Ramón Morales (CID, Harvard University).
